Homework blog post 1: childhood vaccinations

A personal oppinion that I feel very strong about is the manner of childhood vaccinations, and how parents choose not to vaccinate their children. In today's world we live more comfortable than we did even 60 years ago. With the world at our fingertips, and technology advancing every nano second, it can be agreed that life has less worries now than it did before. I believe parents who choose nt to vaccinate their children do not have the right to risk their childs safety and other childrens safety. In America's 48 out of 50 states their is a law stating parents have the right to with hod their children from vaccination, and they still have the right to place their children in public school. This is called the exemption law and it alows parents to provide a "valid" reason as to why they are not vaccinating their child. Now just thinking about it worries me because their could be a child running around elementary school without a measels vaccine, that kid could bite another child and they could both end up getting sick. Now I do feel that parents should decide their childrens fate, this is a free country. I disagree with the 48 states however basically saying they could let their children go to PUBLIC school as long as they have a "note." I believe if you are willing to make the decision to withold vaccines, you should be wiling to homeschool them too. The connections people make between vaccines and autism are both rediculous, and unresearched. It is purely coincidental that a child who gets a vaccine (like most children do), begins an onset of autism. Autism does not just form, you are born with it and it can be controlled if noticed in the early stages. Why withold your children from being as healthy as possible? Why shouldnt we take advantage of what is right in front of us? modern medicine can cue disease and make us healthy when were sick, and most importantly prevent us from getting sick.

Recently i have come in contact with an amazing piece of art. It was not a painting or a poem, but an amazing movie. One of the greatest love stories of our time has got to be An Affair to Remember. I recently watched this with a close friend and it was one of the greatest movies i have ever seen. This movie was about a man who goes on a European cruise, and he's not just any man he is the stud of his time, who just happens to be engaged. While on the ship he meets this woman who is also engaged. On the ship these two people fall in love. They make a pact that they will meet on the top of the empire state building in six months if they still have feelings for each other. They go their separate ways back to their fiances. During those six months both of them brake up with their fiances because they have feelings for each other. When the day of the empire state building date arrives the man goes up to the top waiting for his love. The woman is on her way to the building when she gets hit by a car and becomes paralyzed leaving her lover to think she doesn't love him anymore. I don't want to spoil the ending, but this movie is a classic that shall be remembered for decades to come. This movie was very special because I love classic movies from the 40s and 50s. This movie had class and sophistication mixed with a heavenly romance. Normally i do not go for romance movies but this movie was spectacular. I would recommend this movie to anyone. No matter if you don't like love stories this is definitely a movie one will never forget.

Post 6: Your choice

 The biggest problem in America today is... people who think they are entitled to everything, and blame their problems on society. Today the world is full of opportunity, and with opportunity comes people who like to twist that opportunity and make it so they can do the LEAST AMOUNT OF WORK! People today have formed ideas that they are entitled to everything that pops in their heads. People demand so much out of this country yet they are not willing to work for it. There are however many people who do work hard and are good Samaritans. I cannot stand when people blame most of their problems on the economy. Yes the economy is not stable at the moment but come on instead of going on strike and demanding more, why don't you work for it like the rest of the functioning community. i cannot fathom enough how hard my parents work, and there are people who make more and still complain that's its not enough. Another thing... stop with the unions that are for jobs other than in coal mines, and dangerous working conditions. 


The thing that annoys me the most is... parents who are afraid of what their kids think of them. It seems that in today's world parents are more concerned with being their kids "friend" then actually laying down the law. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! children should not be able to decide what and when they can do things. Parents today are also extremely selfish and obnoxious. everyone has to conform to their schedule and do what they want. sometimes we need to take a step back and discipline our children. I don't believe in spanking. spanking is such a hypocritical action. for example, if a child hits another kid on the playground, why would you spank them trying to explain well its okay for me to hit you, but its not okay for you to hit other children. This rant is getting a little long but the last thing i cant stand is when fathers where mandles, and parents think just because they have a child they need a big obnoxious minivan. 


Hey, you guys out there, take some advice from a girl... so for all of you guys out there listen to whatever a girl says because they are always right even when their wrong. A piece of advice for guys is when getting dressed in the morning go to your closet and put on a belt, because no its not appealing for us to see your underwear. Also whenever a girl tells you she doesn't want to exchange gifts for a holiday, that's code for "yeah i actually want something really nice i just don't want to say!" Some tips are: stop using slang as a form of dialect, be respectful... ALWAYS, don't overdo the axe because frankly its not a form of taking a shower, call once in a while don't just text, dont be grumpy around us, and no we don't think cursing is cool!

In today's society people always have thoughts and opinions on how specific genders are supposed to act, feel and live. Sense this blog is about how the stereotypical man and woman are supposed to act it does not reflect my personal views. The American dream is supposed to be consisted of one woman, one man, 2.2 kids, a golden retriever and a white picket fence. More and more people are straying from this so called "dream" because the role of a man and woman change. Women in todays society have numerous roles. Some can be staying home with the children, working as the main bread winner, being a good wife, a good mother, going to college, getting a good job. All of those things are what I believe are expected of the modern woman. Some people who have a little more sexist views might say woman are meant to be seen not heard, working in the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant, some might even think they would be dependent on men. I believe the expectation for a man has not changed drastically. Stereotypically a man should have a wife and children. But not all men do. Some men are homosexual and live a perfectly normal and happy life with their partner and still do the same things. Men are expected to be "providers," they have to bring home the bacon or make more than the woman or else their capabilities have no meaning. In 2012 women are perceived as strong and independent. Women are having children later and later because they are focusing on making a career for themselves. Men in today's world are perceived as high status and "important." Some advantages of being a women include the bond between a mother and child, getting oppurtunities that a man might not have. Better bathrooms... where ever you go they are at least 40% better then a mens room! haha! 

1. I believe Albert Einstein is more impressive because he wasnt just granted with knowledge. He had to work hard to understand science and its workings. Now im not going to lie... magic is cool especislly if it is real magic, but the tricks the man is performing are not that impressive. If the tricks he was performing were mind boggling then yeah it could be that he is more impressive. The tricks need to seem like they could actually be magic in order to be impressive.

5. Faced with this type of decision... hmmm... Breaking your collar bone is probably painful so i would say yes i would swallow the pill. I don't like allice in chains but I also dont like having my collar bone being broken every three years with a cresant wrench. Music does not play a HUGE role in my life so having to listen to that horriable group occasionally wouldnt be as bad as breaking my collar bone. I would actually prefer to not be with my soulmate if i have to endure these tortures! haha

7. I would deffianately put the loch ness monster in the paper. I mean come on it is THE LOCH NESS MONSTER!!! The president is just undergoing a biopsy. Besides you can always put the president in next weeks paper. The loch ness monster has been a myth for many years and getting the oppurtunity to let everyone know it is a real creature is amazing.

12. I would give the wizard $100. A lot of people would probably say it is unethical to put others under an enchantment spell, but it would give you a little self confidence boost. It's not like you are changing yourself, you are changing how others think of you. You probably will never get a chance like this in your lifetime, so take it!

16. NO! Do not put that game on! If your future consists of Canadian football, being alone, and talking to yourself... don't put that game on. You can't change your future but you can do things in the present to help manage what it will become. That is not a future especially sence I hate football. Canada has brought many good things like Rush, maple syrup, niagra falls and others, but avoid a future like that.

19. This sounds like a recipe for disaster! If it was life or death i would kick them and just tell them that I got up from the couch and forgot they were on the floor and tripped, thus them feeling a kick in the rib. At least they would be alive. Sure the friendship may be ruined but its better then going to a friends funeral when your a teenager.

20. I would see the hollywood movie because I would not like everyone to see how my life has been so far. Life isnt always sweet and I dont want others to see my life and judge me based on a documentary. Although the documentary would be interesting to see what everyone would say! haha

While reviewing the cover of this book I took in some information that may give some insight about this story. The cover has a young girl with her skirt a little short and flowing in the wind. This may symbolize a character in the story with a bit of a wild side. The second thing I noticed was her bright red shoes. red is a very symbolic color and can be depictied in many ways. i analyzed the shoes as a bit permiscuous. This story reminds me some what of house on mango street which we had to read in ninth grade. Oh the joys of school literature! It seems like the type of story that might take a while to pick up. When reviewing the first couple of pages i notice that their is a huge family tree. With so many cousins, and aunts and parents... OH MY! I just had to go there! Hopefully this book will be a good and symbolic read! reading the back page gave you a little insight on how the book's plot will unravel. i believe the father is very hardworking and the daughters will become very rebellious. We will find out soon enough! keep on reading!
